If you are a solo traveller then you must not fall into the trap of thinking that you have a limited choice when it comes to booking your annual break. The singles holiday market is simply vast and this is arguably the biggest growth sector within the travel industry today.
In turn, this has brought about a wider range of operators travelling to all parts of the world and far from having restricted options, there’s actually never been a better time to book a holiday of this kind.
However, if this is your first time as a solo tourist, it is only natural that you may feel a little hesitant about making the booking. If you’re in this position however, what are your alternatives?
Well, you could always stay at home but what would be the point in denying yourself a well-earned break after a hard working year? Another option is, of course, to book a standard package holiday through a conventional operator but is that really what you want?
With a normal package trip, your plane and your accommodation is more than likely to be full of couples and families in the way that a singles holiday isn’t. You may also find that you’re having to spend more money than other people because your tour operator has levied a single supplement – a financial penalty that is imposed for having the comfort and convenience of your own personal room.
However, if you turn your focus to a singles holiday then you have none of these problems. Sharing your flight, cruise and your accommodation will be those you share your interests and your passions for the destination you are visiting and the activities that you are undertaking.
As far as the single supplement is concerned, the growth of the singles holiday has made this a thing of the past but if you are travelling on a solo break then you can still have the comfort and privacy of your own room. Essentially, the beauty of this kind of trip is that you can keep yourself to yourself or you can get involved as much as you want to.
Having decided that you’re going on a singles break for the first time you now need to decide where you want to travel to. Naturally this can be down to personal taste and interests but it is worthwhile seeking out some of the traditionally popular locations.
Italy should be at the top of anyone’s list simply because it has so much to offer. If you want sightseeing then there are few, if any, countries in the world that can offer better man-made and natural landmarks, many of which date back to the days of the Roman Empire.
If you just want to relax and chill then there are glorious beaches and miles of golden sand with near perfect weather. There’s a choice of activity breaks too so if you’re planning a singles holiday for the very first time, Italy can be a perfect choice.
